Chapter 6

1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

*Dear friends, if someone makes a mistake, you who are wise, help them kindly. Remember, you could face temptation too.

2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

*Help each other with your problems, and that's how you follow Jesus' teachings.

3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

*If a person believes they are important but they're not, they are fooling themselves.

4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

*But each person should check their own actions, and then they can be happy only by themselves, not because of someone else.

5 For every man shall bear his own burden.

*Every person should carry their own responsibility.

6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

*If you learn from the teachings, share good things with the one who teaches.

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

*Don't be fooled; God won't let you get away with bad actions. Whatever you do will have consequences, so be careful.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

*If you plant things that grow your physical self, you'll get decay; but if you plant things that grow your spiritual self, you'll get eternal life.

9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

*Don't get tired of doing good things, because if we don't give up, we will get a good reward later.

10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

*Since we have the chance, let's do good for everyone, particularly those who believe in the same faith as us.

11 Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.

*You can see that I wrote a big letter to you myself.

12 As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.

*Those who want to look good physically force you to get circumcised. They do this so they don't face punishment for following Christ's cross.

13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.

*They don't follow the rules, but want to mark you for a special reason so they can brag about your body.

14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

*But let's not brag about it, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, who helps us see the world differently, and makes us different from the world.

15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

*In Christ Jesus, neither being circumcised nor not being circumcised matters; what counts is becoming a new person.

16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

*And those who follow this guideline will have peace, mercy, and blessings, and also the people of God called Israel.

17 From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

*Starting now, don't disturb me: because I have the signs of Jesus the Lord on my body.

18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

*Dear friends, may the kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you in your heart. Yes, indeed.
