Ezekiel

Contains visions and prophecies of judgment and restoration for Israel and the nations.

Chapter 7

1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

*Additionally, the LORD's message reached me, stating,

2 Also, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD unto the land of Israel; An end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land.

*"Son of man, God says to the land of Israel: The end has come for the four corners of the land."

3 Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.

*The end has arrived for you, and I will direct my anger at you. I will judge you based on your actions, and punish you for all the terrible things you have done.

4 And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

*And I won't show mercy to you. I will pay you back for your actions and your detestable deeds will be right in front of you. You will realize that I am the LORD.

5 Thus saith the Lord GOD; An evil, an only evil, behold, is come.

*So says the Lord God: A bad thing, the only bad thing, has arrived.

6 An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it is come.

*The end has arrived; it watches over you. Look, it's here.

7 The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains.

*The morning has arrived for you, person living in the land. It's time, the day of trouble is close, and the mountains won't make that loud noise again.

8 Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.

*Now I will soon unleash my wrath on you, and fulfill my anger against you. I will judge you based on your actions and pay you back for all your wicked deeds.

9 And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth.

*And I won't show mercy or feel sorry. I will pay you back for your actions and the terrible things you do, right in the middle of you. Then you'll know that it is I, the LORD, who punishes.

10 Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.

*Look, today is here: the morning has arrived; the stick has bloomed, arrogance has sprouted.

11 Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of theirs: neither shall there be wailing for them.

*Violence has become a tool of evil: none of those involved will survive, nor many others connected to them; there will be no crying for them.

12 The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

*The time has arrived, the day is close: do not let the buyer be happy, nor the seller be sad: because anger is directed at everyone involved in it.

13 For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, which shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.

*A seller cannot go back and get what they sold, even if it was still alive. The vision shows that none of them will return. No one can also become stronger from doing wrong things in their life.

14 They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

*They sounded the horn to get everyone prepared for war, but no one goes to fight. My anger affects everyone involved.

15 The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.

*The sword is outside, while sickness and hunger are inside. Those in the field will die from the sword, and those in the city will be eaten by famine and disease.

16 But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity.

*But those who survive will survive and be like doves in the valleys on mountains, all of them sad, each one because of their wrongdoing.

17 All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water.

*Everyone's hands will be weak, and everyone's knees will be as wobbly as water.

18 They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.

*People will wear rough cloth and feel scared. Everyone will feel embarrassed, and they'll all lose their hair.

19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

*In the streets, people will throw away their silver and gold will be taken away. On the day of God's anger, their silver and gold won't save them. They can't fulfill their souls or fill their stomachs because it's a stumbling block for their wrongdoing.

20 As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations and of their detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them.

*In terms of decoration, he placed it with greatness. However, they created idols of disgusting things within it. Because of this, I have moved it away from them.

21 And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it.

*I will let foreigners take it as loot, and evil people on Earth as plunder; they will dirty it.

22 My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my secret place: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it.

*I will turn away from them, and they will make my special place dirty. Thieves will break in and mess it up.

23 Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

*Create a chain because the land has many violent acts, and the city is filled with violence.

24 Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.

*So I will bring the worst people from among the nations, and they will take over their homes. I will also stop the pride of the powerful, and their sacred places will become unholy.

25 Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.

*Destruction is coming, and people will look for peace, but they won't find it.

26 Mischief shall come upon mischief, and rumour shall be upon rumour; then shall they seek a vision of the prophet; but the law shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the ancients.

*Trouble will follow trouble, and gossip will follow gossip. Then people will look for the prophet's guidance, but the law will disappear from the priests and advice from the elders.

27 The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

*The king will be sad, and the prince will wear grief, and the people's hands will be worried. I will treat them based on what they do, and I will judge them fairly based on their actions. They will realize that I am in charge.
