Moses gives speeches about laws and the importance of following God before the Israelites enter the Promised Land.

Chapter 8

KJV - Deuteronomy 8:2

And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

Remember how the Lord your God guided you for forty years in the desert, doing this to test and humble you. He wanted to see what was in your heart - if you'd follow his commands or not.
