KJV: The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.

Geneva: The Elder vnto the beloued Gaius, whom I loue in the trueth.

KJV: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Geneva: Beloued, I wish chiefly that thou prosperedst and faredst well as thy soule prospereth.

KJV: For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

Geneva: For I reioyced greatly when the brethren came, and testified of the trueth that is in thee, how thou walkest in the trueth.

KJV: I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Geneva: I haue no greater ioy then these, that is, to heare that my sonnes walke in veritie.

KJV: Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;

Geneva: Beloued, thou doest faithfully, whatsoeuer thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers,

KJV: Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:

Geneva: Which bare witnesse of thy loue before the Churches. Whom if thou bringest on their iourney as it beseemeth according to God, thou shalt doe well,

KJV: Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.

Geneva: Because that for his Names sake they went forth, and tooke nothing of the Gentiles.

KJV: We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.

Geneva: We therefore ought to receiue such, that we might be helpers to the trueth.

KJV: I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.

Geneva: I wrote vnto the Church: but Diotrephes which loueth to haue the preeminence among them, receiueth vs not.

KJV: Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

Geneva: Wherefore if I come, I will call to your remembrance his deedes which he doeth, pratling against vs with malicious wordes, and not therewith content, neither he himselfe receiueth the brethren, but forbiddeth them that woulde, and thrusteth them out of the Church.

KJV: Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

Geneva: Beloued, followe not that which is euill, but that which is good: he that doeth well, is of God: but he that doeth euill, hath not seene God.

KJV: Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

Geneva: Demetrius hath good report of al men, and of the trueth it selfe: yea, and wee our selues beare recorde, and ye know that our record is true.

KJV: I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:

Geneva: I haue many things to write: but I will not with yncke and pen write vnto thee:

KJV: But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.

Geneva: For I trust I shal shortly see thee, & we shal speake mouth to mouth. Peace be with thee. The friends salute thee. Greete the friends by name.
