1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.

*It's widely known that there's sexual sin among you, and a kind of sin rarely mentioned even by non-believers, where someone has a relationship with their father's wife.

2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

*You are proud, and you haven't mourned instead, wishing the person who did this could be removed from your group.

3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

*"Indeed, even though I'm not physically there, I'm spiritually present and have already judged the person who did this action, just as if I were right there with them."

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

*In Jesus' name, when you all come together, and my spirit joins you, with the strength of Jesus.

5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

*To hand over someone to Satan to punish their body, so their soul can be safe when the day of Jesus arrives.

6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

*Your boasting isn't right. Don't you understand that a small amount of bad can spoil the whole thing?

7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

*Remove the old fermented dough, so you can be a fresh lump of dough, as you yourselves are without fermentation. Because even Christ, our sacrifice for freedom from slavery, has been sacrificed for us.

8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

*So, we should celebrate without using old, bad yeast or the yeast of bad behavior. Instead, we should use unleavened bread that represents being honest and true.

9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

*I told you in a letter not to hang out with people who have sexual sin.

10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

*But not completely with those who have impure relationships, greedy people, or those who force others, or those who worship false gods; because you would have to leave this world entirely if you do.

11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

*But now I've told you not to be friends with anyone who claims to be a brother but is actually doing wrong things like having too much sex, being greedy, worshipping idols, complaining a lot, getting drunk, or taking what doesn't belong to them; don't share a meal with such people.

12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

*Why should I judge those outside? Shouldn't you judge those inside first?

13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

*But those without God make judgments. So, remove the evil person from your group.
