KJV: For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:

Geneva: For ye your selues knowe, brethren, that our entrance in vnto you was not in vaine,

KJV: But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

Geneva: But euen after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated at Philippi, (as ye knowe) we were bolde in our God, to speake vnto you the Gospell of God with much striuing.

KJV: For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:

Geneva: For our exhortation was not by deceite, nor by vncleannes, nor by guile.

KJV: But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

Geneva: But as we were allowed of God, that the Gospel should be committed vnto vs, so we speake, not as they that please men, but God, which approoueth our hearts.

KJV: For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:

Geneva: Neither yet did we euer vse flattering wordes, as ye knowe, nor coloured couetousnes, God is recorde.

KJV: Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.

Geneva: Neither sought we prayse of men, neither of you, nor of others, when we might haue bene chargeable, as the Apostles of Christ.

KJV: But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

Geneva: But we were gentle among you, euen as a nource cherisheth her children.

KJV: So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

Geneva: Thus being affectioned toward you, our good will was to haue dealt vnto you, not the Gospel of God onely, but also our owne soules, because ye were deare vnto vs.

KJV: For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

Geneva: For ye remember, brethren, our labour and trauaile: for we laboured day & night, because we would not be chargeable vnto any of you, and preached vnto you the Gospel of God.

KJV: Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

Geneva: Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily, and iustly, and vnblameably we behaued our selues among you that beleeue.

KJV: As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,

Geneva: As ye knowe how that we exhorted you, and comforted, and besought euery one of you (as a father his children)

KJV: That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

Geneva: That ye would walke worthy of God, who hath called you vnto his kingdome and glorie.

KJV: For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Geneva: For this cause also thanke we God without ceasing, that when ye receiued the worde of God, which ye heard of vs, ye receiued it not as the worde of men, but as it is in deede the worde of God, which also worketh in you that beleeue.

KJV: For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

Geneva: For brethren, ye are become folowers of the Churches of God, which in Iudea are in Christ Iesus, because ye haue also suffred the same things of your owne countrey men, euen as they haue of the Iewes,

KJV: Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

Geneva: Who both killed the Lord Iesus & their owne Prophets, & haue persecuted vs away, and God they please not, and are contrary to all men,

KJV: Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

Geneva: And forbid vs to preach vnto the Gentiles, that they might be saued, to fulfill their sinnes alwayes: for the wrath of God is come on them, to the vtmost.

KJV: But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

Geneva: For asmuch, brethren, as we were kept from you for a season, concerning sight, but not in the heart, we enforced the more to see your face with great desire.

KJV: Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

Geneva: Therefore we would haue come vnto you (I Paul, at least once or twise) but Satan hindered vs.

KJV: For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

Geneva: For what is our hope or ioye, or crowne of reioycing? are not euen you it in the presence of our Lord Iesus Christ at his comming?

KJV: For ye are our glory and joy.

Geneva: Yes, ye are our glory and ioy.
