1 Samuel

Tells about Samuel, the last judge, and the beginning of Israel's monarchy with King Saul and young David.

Chapter 16

KJV - 1 Samuel 16:1

And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

And God told Samuel, "Why are you so sad about Saul, since I've rejected him as king? Go fill your flask with oil, and I will send you to Jesse from Bethlehem. I have chosen a new king from his children."
